“AURELIA” PROJECT – A project by FABINHA SA

AURELIA Project – Renovation of a 180 m² duplex apartment in Cheseaux (Vaud)

As part of the AURELIA project , FABINHA SA carried out the complete renovation of a 180 m² duplex in Cheseaux , near Lausanne, in the canton of Vaud . The objective: to modernize the spaces, optimize the light and create an atmosphere that is warm, elegant and timeless.

This interior renovation focused on precise work on floors , volumes and finishes , in order to achieve a durable, coherent and high-end result.

A comprehensive renovation, designed on two levels

From the outset, this duplex apartment renovation project was conceived as a coherent whole between the ground floor and the upper floor. The main challenge was to create a strong visual continuity , while respecting the identity and function of each level (day/night).

Ground floor: modern, minimalist design & smooth circulation

On the ground floor, the old parquet flooring was removed to install a more suitable covering for foot traffic, maintenance, and the desired aesthetic consistency. We thus rethought the foundation of the project: a contemporary, bright, and structured floor .

Removal of existing floors

A complete demolition of the floors was carried out in order to start again on a sound, stable and perfectly prepared base to receive the new coating.

Installation of large format tiles (60 x 120 cm)

We installed large-format 60 x 120 cm tiles with a beige sand veined stone effect . This choice provides:

  • A mineral, luminous and elegant atmosphere .
  • An amplified sense of space thanks to the large format and the smoother reading of surfaces.

Custom-made baseboards: the detail that enhances the space

Solid beech skirting boards , varnished in white RAL 9003 , were installed throughout the entire floor. This choice allows for:

  • A perfect continuity with the walls for a clean, minimalist look.
  • An emphasis on volume and a heightened impression.

A discreet but essential detail in a high-end renovation: it structures the space and reinforces visual unity.

Upstairs: renovated parquet flooring, authenticity preserved

Upstairs, the decision was made to preserve the authenticity of the existing parquet flooring. The wood was highlighted to enhance the warm atmosphere of the sleeping areas.

The original parquet flooring underwent complete sanding , followed by the application of a matte oil , in order to:

  • To restore the wood to its natural shine .
  • To preserve its character and texture.
  • Create a soft, comfortable and timeless atmosphere.

The contrast between the mineral tiles on the ground floor and the natural wood on the upper floor creates a harmonious balance between modernity and comfort.

Painting: visual unity & controlled brightness

All the walls and ceilings have been repainted in soft white RAL 9003 , in order to unify the volumes and amplify the natural light.

This choice allows:

  • Optimal light diffusion .
  • A soothing and refined atmosphere.
  • A perfect match with the baseboards and woodwork.

RAL 9003 acts here as a common thread: it links the entire duplex in a single visual identity.

The result: an elegant, sustainable, and custom-designed duplex renovation

The AURELIA project illustrates FABINHA SA 's approach: a demanding interior renovation, where every technical and aesthetic choice serves an objective of comfort, durability and quality.

  • Respect what already exists when it has character.
  • Modernize with sustainable and consistent materials.
  • Pay attention to the finishing touches to enhance the volumes.

The result: a bright, fluid and elegant duplex apartment, designed to stand the test of time and enhance the value of the property in the canton of Vaud.
