Complete renovation of a 160 m² duplex apartment in Paudex

With AURORA, FABINHA SA presents the complete renovation of a 160 m² duplex apartment located in Paudex, on the outskirts of Lausanne, in the canton of Vaud. Spanning two levels, this transformation combines the refurbishment of floors, walls, and ceilings with the modernization of bathrooms and the creation of custom-made joinery. A project where the consistency of materials, the precision of finishes, and the balance of volumes give rise to a contemporary and timeless interior.

Completely rethinking a two-level duplex

The complete renovation of a duplex apartment requires a comprehensive approach. Beyond each room, it is about creating architectural continuity between the different levels, paying particular attention to materials, colors, and finishing elements.

For AURORA, our goal was to transform the existing spaces into a bright, elegant, and functional whole, while maintaining visual consistency throughout the home.

From floor coverings to joinery, passing through sanitary installations and the stairwell, each intervention was designed to contribute to a harmonious transformation of this 160 m² duplex.

A complete interior renovation, from floors to ceilings

The transformation of AURORA began with the complete replacement of the floor coverings, allowing to redefine the aesthetic identity of the different spaces.

The work continued with the refurbishment of the wall plastering and the renovation of the ceilings. These interventions allowed to recover homogeneous surfaces, carefully prepared to receive the new finishes.

The treatment of walls and ceilings plays an essential role in the perception of an interior. By unifying the surfaces and working on the quality of the finishes, we created a clean base that further highlights the volumes and the layout of the duplex.

RAL 9003 white as a common thread

One of the particularities of AURORA lies in the consistency of the shades and finishes, notably through the use of RAL 9003 white for several joinery elements.

This shade of white helps create discreet and homogeneous lines, while accompanying the natural brightness of the rooms.

Applied to the baseboards, built-in cabinets, and stair handrail, it creates a visual continuity between the different spaces and reinforces the contemporary identity of the apartment.

Solid beech baseboards for elegant finishes

Joinery details hold an important place in this renovation. All existing baseboards were replaced by solid beech baseboards, painted in RAL 9003 white.

The choice of solid wood allows to combine the quality of a natural material with a sober finish, adapted to the interior architecture of the duplex.

These elements create a careful transition between floors and walls, while reinforcing the aesthetic unity of the different rooms. A discreet intervention, but decisive in the perception of the final result.

Custom-made built-in cabinets, integrated into the architecture

In a complete renovation project, storage fully participates in the organization and aesthetics of the spaces.

For AURORA, custom-made built-in cabinets were made to fit into the existing volumes. Their RAL 9003 white finish accompanies the other joinery elements, creating a discreet and coherent composition.

Custom-made allows to adapt the dimensions and proportions to the particularities of each space. It thus offers functional storage solutions, while preserving the visual fluidity of the interior.

Two completely renovated bathrooms

The renovation of AURORA also includes the complete transformation of two bathrooms, in order to adapt them to contemporary expectations in terms of comfort and aesthetics.

The sanitary spaces were redesigned around a selection of carefully integrated materials and equipment, with particular attention paid to the organization of the volumes and the quality of the finishes.

The vanity units, sanitary fixtures, and accessories were selected from Laufen, a Swiss brand recognized for its contemporary universe and bathroom layout solutions.

A modernized guest toilet in the same spirit

The guest toilet also underwent a complete renovation, in the aesthetic continuity of the two bathrooms.

Despite generally having a smaller surface area, this space deserves particular attention. The integration of the equipment and the quality of the finishes contribute to creating a functional, careful, and coherent layout with the rest of the duplex.

A stairwell enhanced by a solid wood handrail

In a duplex, the staircase occupies a central place. It ensures the connection between the levels and directly participates in the perception of the volumes.

For AURORA, the stairwell was completely transformed with the design and creation of a custom-made solid wood handrail.

Its RAL 9003 white finish takes up the shades of the other joinery elements and accompanies the clean aesthetic of the project.

Beyond its protective function, this element becomes a full-fledged architectural component, visually linking the two levels and giving a new identity to the interior circulation.

Sliding doors to optimize circulation

The optimization of spaces also guided certain layout choices, notably the installation of two white sliding doors for the bathrooms.

This solution allows to free up the space usually required for the swing of a traditional door and facilitates the organization of the rooms.

With their sober lines and white finish, the sliding doors naturally integrate into the new interior composition, combining functionality and discretion.

A project where every detail contributes to the overall harmony

The particularity of AURORA lies in the diversity of interventions brought together within the same renovation project.

Floor coverings, wall plastering, paint, custom-made joinery, bathrooms, guest toilet, and stairwell transformation: each element was treated in an overall logic.

This approach allows to maintain an aesthetic consistency between the spaces and to pay constant attention to the joints, alignments, and finishes that make the difference in a careful renovation.
