Complete renovation of a wooden villa in Vuadens
With LIGNUM, FABINHA SA unveils the complete transformation of a charming villa located in Vuadens, in the canton of Fribourg. From the renovation of the building envelope to the modernization of technical installations, and including the aesthetic reorganization of interior spaces, this project combines authenticity, comfort, and contemporary architecture.
Preserving a villa's character while thoroughly transforming it
Undertaking the complete renovation of a wooden house involves finding a balance between respecting its architecture and the demands of modern comfort.
For LIGNUM, our approach consisted of preserving the warm identity of this villa while bringing it a new architectural coherence. Each intervention, from the facade to the living areas, was designed to place the building within a more contemporary aesthetic without erasing its original charm.
A fully renovated exterior envelope
The renovation of LIGNUM is not limited to interior spaces. FABINHA SA also carried out a major intervention on the villa's exterior envelope, with the complete refurbishment of its peripheral insulation and wooden cladding.
Peripheral insulation plays an essential role in a home's thermal comfort. By reinforcing the building envelope, it helps limit heat loss and improve comfort levels throughout the seasons.
The new wooden cladding brings a renewed visual identity to the house. Its contemporary lines enhance the villa's architecture while maintaining that natural connection to the material that gives it its character. An exterior transformation that combines modernity, aesthetic consistency, and building protection.
Complete replacement of the heat pump
A comprehensive renovation must also take into account the technical installations that contribute to daily comfort.
As part of the LIGNUM project, FABINHA SA handled the full replacement of the villa's heat pump. This intervention accompanies the renovation of the building envelope and contributes to the modernization of its heating system.
The combination of renovated peripheral insulation and a modernized heating system is part of a coherent approach to improving thermal comfort and managing the home's energy needs.
Elegantly rethought interior spaces
Inside, the transformation is just as striking. Old coverings, bold colors, and aging fixtures have given way to a softer, brighter, and more harmonious atmosphere.
New flooring, light surfaces, and contemporary finishes allow for the existing architectural elements to be showcased more effectively. Exposed beams and wooden ceilings retain their full presence, contributing to the identity of the space.
The result relies on a combination of sober materials and tones, designed to stand the test of time without losing its elegance.
Wood at the heart of the interior architecture
One of the distinctive elements of this renovation lies in how wood was integrated into the new interior composition.
Near the staircase and the mezzanine, a wooden screen with vertical lines structures the volumes while preserving their visual lightness. This arrangement creates a natural transition between spaces and strengthens the dialogue between existing elements and contemporary interventions.
Far from being merely decorative, wood becomes the guiding thread of the project here. It connects the different spaces, warms up the mineral tones, and recalls the history of this charming villa.
Fully modernized bathrooms
The bathrooms also underwent a complete transformation to offer spaces that are more current, functional, and pleasant for daily use.
Old equipment and coverings were replaced with contemporary solutions favoring clean lines, neutral-toned tiles, and carefully selected finishes.
Furniture with wood finishes, washbasins, glass surfaces, and illuminated mirrors contribute to an elegant ambiance. Each element fits into a balanced composition, faithful to the general spirit of the renovation.
A comprehensive renovation, from technique to finishes
LIGNUM illustrates our approach to complete renovation: considering the building as a whole, rather than addressing aesthetic and technical aspects separately.
Peripheral insulation, wooden cladding, heat pump replacement, bathroom renovation, new flooring, and interior fittings: every intervention contributes to a coherent transformation of the villa.
Beyond the visual result, our ambition is to create spaces designed for their occupants, with suitable materials, modernized installations, and particular attention paid to details.
LIGNUM: a new story for this villa in Vuadens
Today, this villa has a new look. Its wooden architecture retains its authenticity, while its interior spaces, exterior envelope, and technical equipment have been modernized.
This project reflects our conviction: a successful renovation is not about erasing the past, but about revealing the potential of a place and giving it the means to support the years to come.
